Chain Stopper

A chain stopper is a simple pawl set on deck. It lifts and clicks light over the links of an incoming chain but jams down hard when the chain tries to run back. Chain stoppers prevent chain from being stripped off the anchor winch when a rising bow exerts excessive force on the chain.
